XXI: (I-75)

Ruth Moon Kempher
Spanish songs and country music, I drive through beauty up and down hills, open to anything, obligation done single trees stand out glorifying their grey fields. Black cows with long morning shadows. Brilliant sun. Fantastic sky whatever happens, I'm glad I came this way O, Christ I'm sorry but I keep remembering Adam and the strength of his taking the rich earth here reminds me of his sinews the smell of woodsmoke – someone burning away the moulder of last winter fly down the song to his eardrum, tickle his soul touch, touch the day be the butter melting on his lower lip a crumb on his tongue, toasted It is morning I am alive in it. That's what I came to say.
